New history books published for Gagauzia schools
Pupils in the south-eastern region of the country will learn the history of the Gagauz from a specially edited book. Until now, teachers taught the pupils information from various sources, Info-Prim Neo learned from Vera Belanova, the new head of the Education Division in Gagauzia.
The books will reach the pupils in October. Vera Belanova said that the history class is called in Gagauz schools “The History of Romanians and of the World”, the same as in the rest of the country, and 5% of the lessons are dedicated to the history of the Gagauz.
Gagauzia is an autonomous territory with special status. It is a form of Gagauz self-determination and an integral part of the Republic of Moldova. About 17,000 pupils go to school in the 32 towns and villages of the autonomy.
