New headache for anti-corruption squad: Opera Theater

The Court of Accounts informs the Economic Crimes and Corruption Combating Center (ECCCC) to investigate the way in which “the National Theater of Opera and Ballet” spent public money for reparation and procurements. In Monitorul Oficial (Official Gazette) of July 3, the Court of Accounts publishes a decision also recommending the Culture Ministry to undertake measures “to make responsible the administration of the state enterprise 'the Theater of Opera and Ballet' in using public financial means,” Info-Prim Neo reports. In the conclusions in the decision, the State Auditor finds that the theater administration used public money “by deviating from regular norms.” The public procurement procedures and the fulfillment of the enterprise contracts was done by violating the legal provisions, in some cases the project documentation lacks, reads the decision. During the verifying process, the procedures of public procurement could not be re-established fully because of the lack of primary documentation, procurement dossiers and minutes.
