New group of Peace Corps Volunteers starts work in Moldova

For two years, a new group of 28 U.S. Peace Corps Volunteers will be working as specialists in villages and towns throughout Moldova, the U.S. Embassy said in a press release, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Of the 28 volunteers, 12 will serve as specialists for organizational and community development working in non-governmental organizations and local public administration offices. The remaining 16 will work with extension services centers and micro-finance institutions as specialists in agriculture and agribusiness development. In February these 28 Americans began their 10-week preservice training, where they focused on learning Romanian and Russian, getting to know Moldovan culture and acquiring technical skills for their future placements. The trainees lived with host families in villages around the town of Orhei. This is the 22nd group of Peace Corps Volunteers that will operate in our country.
