New government abrogates previous executive’s decision to impose visa regime with Romania
The April 8 Government Decision to institute a visa regime between Moldova and Romania (No. 269) was abrogated. The abrogation decision was adopted by the new Cabinet at its first meeting on Friday, which started at 10 PM, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca said that the annulled decision ran counter to the law on the abolition of the visa regime for the citizens of the EU member states, the U.S., Canada, Switzerland, Norway, Ireland and Japan of June 8, 2006.
On September 17, Moldova’s Acting President Mihai Ghimpu issued a decree, suspending the given decision.
