New facilities planned to be built at Marculesti Airport

An international logistic center with state-of-the-art technology, new passenger accommodations, a pilot school and a new helicopter fleet are intended to be built and created under a modernization plan of the Free International Airport Marculesti, which was presented by the airport's administration during a visit of acting President Marian Lupu to Marculesti. The airport's administration stressed that Marculesti offers national and foreign investors an excellent environment to place their investments and run businesses in proximity to the European Union. The resident companies of the Marchulesti free zone can engage in operations like provision of airport services and air transportation of cargo, wholesale trade, industrial production for export, processing of agricultural products, packaging and marking services etc. Marian Lupu noted that by attracting investment, increasing the number of residents, industrial output and exports, and consequently creating new jobs and developing infrastructure, Marculesti will contribute to the country's economic growth and its integration into the European and global economic space. The International Airport Marculesti was granted the status of a free trade zone on 10 July 2008.
