Three new pumps and five frequency converters will be installed at the cogeneration plant CET-Source 1 as part of Termoelectrica’s modernization efforts. Also the operating company plans to renovate the 43-year-old pump feeding the plant’s main boiler.

The work will be done in stages as it involves removing massive pieces of equipment and replacing them with modern ones. It is expected to be completed by the end of the year, without affecting the delivery of services.

Termoelectrica CEO Veaceslav Eni says the replacement will help to cut the system’s electricity consumption by 30%, while also increasing the lifespan and security of the entire system.

Improving the efficiency of the Centralized Heating System is a project implemented with the financial support of the World Bank to increase Termoelectrica’s operational efficiency and financial stability and to improve the quality of services provided to the residents of Chisinau.
