New equipment for Medical Diagnostic Center to be bought with Japan’s support

The Republican Medical Diagnostic Center is the beneficiary of a project to modernize medical equipment to the value of US$355,000 that is financilaly suppted by the Government of Japan. Through the agency of this project, the institution will purchase equipment to strengthen the capacities to examine patients infected with COVID-19 or with post-COVID-19 conditions. The new non-reimbursable assistance contract with the Kusanone Program (Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects) was signed on September 28, IPN reports.

In the signing ceremony, the Ambassador of Japan in Chisinau Katayama Yoshihiro said that since the launch of the Kusanone Program in 2008 until present, Japan has offered over US$6 million for 72 projects with the aim of promoting human development and of improving the life of Moldovans. “Today’s donation to the value of US$355,000 comes to help the Moldovan people to fight the pandemic and to rehabilitate the infected patients. It is one more sign that the friendship between our countries becomes stronger. I hope that we will together overcome the health crisis as swiftly as possible,” stated the ambassador.

Andrei Testemițanu, director of the Republican Medical Diagnostic Center, thanked for the provided support. “The pandemic taught us two important things – what gratitude is and what solidarity is. Together we are stronger in front of the pandemic,” he stated.

Attending the event, Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco said that Japan has been very close to the Republic of Moldova by each support provided during 30 years. ‘Together with mates from Japan, we could strengthen the capacities of health facilities through the agency of this famous and friendly program Kusanone,” noted the minister.

The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects – Kusanone Program was launched in the Republic of Moldova in 2008. Among the beneficiaries of the non-reimbursable financial assistance offered by Japan are health facilities, education institutions, local authorities and nongovernmental organizations.
