New electricity tariffs will be applied from April 1 for consumers to get ready, NAER director

One of the directors of the National Agency for Energy Regulation Octavian Calmîc said the new electricity rates could have been applied immediately, as the operators requested, but they took into account the discussions on the platform of the Commission for Exceptional Situations. It was decided to apply the higher tariffs as from April 1 so as to enable the consumers to get ready and to overcome the shock related to the higher rates, IPN reports.

In the Agency’s meeting in which the new rates were approved, the director said a decision concerning the new tariffs was to be taken earlier, but was put off owing to the state of emergency and the decisions of the Commission for Exceptional Situations. “There is no deviation. All the arguments, calculations, claims and financial deviations that were accumulated or will be accumulated by operators were taken into account,” stated Octavian Calmîc.

The new electricity power rates of ÎCS “Premier Energy” SRL and “Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord” SA vary from 1.57 lei/kWh to 2.17 lei/kWh, depending on the delimitation points or consumption places of end users. Household users are usually supplied through low-voltage power lines.

The last time the electricity rates were adjusted at the end of last January. They were decreased for consumers by 10.1% to 1.51 lei/kWh.
