New local elections will be held in Mereni village of Anenii Noi district on May 14. A decision to this effect was taken by the Central Election Commission in its February 28 meeting, IPN reports.

The Commission’s secretary Veaceslav Agrigoroae said the mayor of Mereni tendered his resignation.

Earlier, the CEC set new local elections in other settlements for May 14. Mayoral elections will be held in Tvardita town of Taraclia district, Pervomaisc commune of Causeni district, Tipala commune and Ulmu village of Ialoveni district and Racovat village of Soroca district.
