The Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel said it would be a shame for Moldova, which already made many steps towards the European integration, to interrupt this process because of new early elections, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Unfortunately, no candidate for the presidential elections of November 18 has been identified. I hope that such a candidate will be found and the head of state will be elected as soon as possible. It is much better for Moldova to elect the head of state than to hold early elections,” Dirk Schuebel said on Wednesday. According to him, Brussels considers that the President of Moldova should be elected by the end of this year. “I already gave many pieces of advice and I think that our counterparts know what they have to do,” the European official said, stressing there are enough candidates out of whom to choose. The presidential elections were set for November 18, but no presidential candidate was registered by the November 14 deadline and thus they will not take place. The legislative body is to set a new date for the presidential elections.
