New details in case of building fire near Chisinau Central Market

During the inspections carried out this January, the firefighters identified irregularities in the two-story building located near the Central Market of Chisinau, where a fire started last week. According to the head of the municipal Emergencies Division Vitalie Grabovschi, the firemen then instructed the building manager to change some of the installations, including the wiring, IPN reports.

Vitalie Grabovschi said that during the inspections, the manager was fined and was requested to replace the alarm system and the wiring. This replaced only the alarm system and thus the alarm went off when the fire broke out. As regards the electrics, this was repaired only partially. The cause of fire hasn’t been yet found out.

Earlier, the firefighters examined three versions, namely a short circuit, violation of the anti-fire rules when installing and using electrical equipment and bringing of a source of fire from outside.

The fire that occurred in a privately owned store near the Central Market on May 25 damaged 1,200 square meters of the building’s roof and things from the second floor.
