The new Minister of Defense Viorel Cibotaru was presented to the employees of the Ministry by President Nicolae Timofti. After the event, the official told the journalists that during his tenure he will make effort to improve the living and working conditions of the servicemen and to make use of international projects in the field of security, IPN reports.

“I’m glad that I take up duties alongside the members of a new Cabinet. During my tenure, I will focus on everything that the status of serviceman means, on the conditions and prosperity of the servicemen and their families. Time has come to start reequipping the armed forces. We must develop the cooperation relations with the EU and NATO,” stated Viorel Cibotaru.

President Nicolae Timofti greeted the officers attending the event and former Minister of Defense Valeriu Troenco. He discussed with those attending, but the journalists didn’t have access to the discussions.  

The Cabinet that includes Viorel Cibotaru was voted in by Parliament on February 18.
