Members of the Briceni local organization of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) announced their intention to leave the party. According to them, the actions taken by Pavel Filip and the administration of the PDM led and continue to lead to a split inside the party. This is the fourth defection from local organizations so far. Earlier, the party was left by members from Cahul, Florești and Orhei, IPN reports.
“This decision is based first of all on the Briceni local organization’s disagreement with the policy pursued by the current administration of the PDM, in the person of Mister Pavel Filip and the group close to him. The current administration does not obey the priorities and provisions of the party’s program and now also violate the PDM’s statutes. Regrettably, the local organizations haven’t seen and haven’t felt collegial, mutual and constructive cooperation for the people’s benefit on the part of the party and its central bodies during the past few months,” it is said in the proceedings signed by 17 members of the Briceni local organization.
The PDM’s secretary general Alexandru Jizdan reacted, saying this decision is not supported by most of the colleagues from Briceni. “The barbecue became a popular method of attracting local supporters for some of the politicians in Moldova, especially if these supporters form part of parliamentary parties with solid experience and with very good human resources. Accidentally or not, those who staged the barbecue in Florești last autumn - Eugeniu Nikiforchuk, Vladimir Andronachi, Alexandru Vâlcu and Vasile Botnari – achieved a new result, offering generous barbecue meat portions to members of the PDM’s Briceni local organization,” said Alexandru Jizdan.
According to him, despite the faced challenges, the PDM confidently continues its path of reformation so as to become an authentic European party that focuses on the interests of the country’s people.
