New crossborder project aims to strengthen cultural cooperation relations between Moldova and Romania

A new crossborder project – “Crossborder Cultural Activities – Bases for Sustainable Multilateral Cooperation” – aims to insure the infrastructure, logistics and resources needed to develop durable cultural cooperation relations between Moldovan and Romanian communities. The project was launched on September 8 during a news conference held in Stefan-Voda. Mayor of Festelita village of Stefan-Voda district, Nicolae Tudoreanu has told Info-Prim Neo that the implementation of the project will start with the extensive repair of the house of culture in Festelita. The works are assessed at 4 million lei. The project aims to share experience in organizing and holding international popular traditions festivals so that the residents of the settlements included in the project know better the customs, work together and participate in joint cultural activities, and the new border of the EU is not regarded as a barrier to the existent ties and cooperation between the two countries, Nicolae Tudoreanu said. According to the mayor, a popular music festival will be held in Festelita in memory of composer Vasile Moga, who produced over 100 instrumental and vocal works. Over 500 artists from Moldova and Romania will take part in the first edition of the festival. The project, which is financed by the European Commission through the Moldova-Romania European Neighborhood Program for 2004-2006, will last for 18 months and has an available budget of 318,660 euros. The grant is worth 286,794 euros, which is 90% of the total cost of the project. The applicant and project partners will cover the other part of the costs – 31,866 euros.
