New contest to choose governor of National Bank

Moldova’s Parliament has announced a new contest to select a candidate for the post of Governor of the National Bank of Moldova. The post fell vacant last autumn, when Dorin Dragutanu tendered his resignation, IPN reports.

According to the Parliament’s press service, the applicants for the post of governor must be citizens of the Republic of Moldova with higher education and with experience of at least 10 years in a financial or monetary field. They must also be fluent in English.

The applications must be submitted to guvernator.bnm@parlament.md and must be accompanied by a CV in Romanian and English, the copy of the identity card, copies of the university diploma and graduation certificate, at least two letters of reference and a letter of motivation, preferably in English, The deadline for applications is February 22, 5pm.

The contest held last November failed to produce a candidate. Liberal-Democratic MP Stefan Creanga, who headed the special selection commission, said then that no applicant met the requirements. On the other hand, Adrian Lupusor, executive director of the think tank “Expert-Grup” and a member of the commission, said then that at least two applicants were suitable for the post to his mind.
