A new consignment of 130,000 flu shots got to Moldova. This was provided by the Task Force for Global Health and started already to be distributed to public health facilities for immunizing professional contingents and groups with a high risk of infection, IPN reports.
The Influenza Vaccine (Split Virion) is administered primarily to persons with chronic diseases, medical personnel, employees of the carabineer troops, border guards, Emergencies Service and Customs Service, orphanage children, etc.
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection said vaccination against seasonal flu reduces the risk of appearance of severe forms of disease and the number of cases of infection and prevents complications, hospitalization and deaths associated with flu.
The immunization campaign started on October, when the Ministry bought and distributed free 30,000 flu shots to public health facilities.
According to the Ministry’s data, ten cases of flu have been recorded in Moldova this year by October 1. In the municipality of Balti, a woman aged 54 died after developing flu-related complications.
