The elections to the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia were rerun on October 3 in six constituencies in the autonomous territorial unit where deputies weren’t elected in the first round. Also, a runoff vote was held in 11 constituencies were none of the candidates initially gained the necessary number of votes, IPN reports.
Even if the voter turnout by 6:30pm was passed in only seven of the 17 polling stations, after the polls closed at 9pm, the local Election Commission announced that 24,789 citizens cast their ballots in the elections, which is 37% of the voters put on the rolls.
The highest turnout, of 78.2%, was recorded in Bugeac constituency, where Vladimir Cîssa defeated Alexandr Chendighelean. The lowest turnout, of only 37.2%, was reported in Baurci constituency, where Grigori Cadân won with 1,076 votes.
