New compensated pharmaceutical to become available next week

The preparation with the common international name Dapagliflozin that was recently put on the list of compensated drugs should become available from next week, the director general of the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) Ion Dodon told a news conference. The drug is indicated to persons with type 2 diabetes and with heart failure, IPN reports.

According to the official, the Company is to negotiate optimal prices with representatives of Moldovan drug distributors and producers and to add new medicines to the list of compensated drugs. It is also planned to digitize the services, to exclude the human factor where persons need to make an appointment for high performance services. All these measures form part of the information campaign “It’s better to be insured” that was launched today and will last until the end of next March
.

“We lay emphasis on the fact that the insured persons who pay the mandatory health insurance premium receive medical services and have access to compensated drugs and devices not as a favor but as something granted,” said the CNAM director.

Ion Dodon said that if the persons receive costly medical assistance amounting to tens or hundreds of thousands of lei, they can be informed at home about the estimated value of the provided medical services so that they know they received medical services paid by the CNAM as medically insured persons.

In Moldova there are three categories of insured persons, namely: employed persons or persons who get other recompenses (about one third of Moldova’s population), persons insured by the Government, such as pensioners, persons with disabilities, unemployed persons, children and students, and persons who need to buy insurance individually as they have income but do not form part of salary earners.
