President Igor Dodon on July 28 signed a decree to constitute a commission for public control within the Civil Society Council under the President of Moldova. In a news conference at IPN, the elected chairman of the commission Fiodor Ghelici said this body will work in the interests of the people, will protect those who are disfavored and who are wronged by the authorizes and the people’s money from thieves and bandits at different levels of the power and will enforce justice and the law.
According to Fiodor Ghelici, the commission will deal with people’s problems by verifying the information reported from districts and will report to the President on the situation. “The President has enough powers to instruct the competent bodies to carry out checks and we will then verify their work. We will monitor the observance of the law, of the Constitution by the bodies of the power no matter what party they represent. It is either a mayor or a prosecutor, these should serve the people,” he stated.
Fiodor Ghelici noted that when the President returns from vacation, they will discuss the opening of local branches of the commission. The commission is not politically biased and its members are not remunerated. They only help the President to fulfill his duties of socially active citizen.
The commission’s chairman called on the people to report problems they face to the President’s office, the commission for public control within the Civil Society Council under the President of Moldova, through the email address moldova-mea@mail.ru or on his personal Facebook page.
