A new special commission for selecting candidates for ombudsperson will be created in Parliament as the commission constituted earlier didn’t manage to hold the contest as snap parliamentary elections were held and the makeup of the legislature was changed, IPN reports.
The commission will hold the public contest, will select and propose candidates for ombudsperson to the legislative body. The members of the special commission during 60 days will present the candidates to Parliament. The commission will include all the members of the commission for appointments and immunities and the commission on human rights and interethnic relations.
The commission for appointments and immunities consists of the MPs: Olesea Stamate, Veronica Roșca, Vasile Bolea, Igor Chiriac, Artemie Cătănoi, Vasile Grădinaru, Sergiu Litvinenco, Igor Talmazan, Ala Dolință, Alexandru Suhodolski and Denis Ulanov.
The commission on human rights and interethnic relations includes: Grigore Novac, Ana Racu, Natalia Davidovici, Liliana Grosu, Angela Munteanu-Pojoga, Victor Spânu and Nicolai Rusol.
The post of ombudsperson fell vacant following the death of Mihail Cotorobai at the start of January. The post is held on an interim basis by the ombudswoman for children’s rights Maia Bănărescu.
