New co-chairman of JCC on behalf of Russia

The consultant of the Embassy of Russia in Moldova Ilia Uvarov was named co-chairman of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) on behalf of the Russian Federation, IPN reports.

The candidate was approved in the September 14 meeting of the JCC that was held in Bender, at the proposal of Russia’s Ambassador in Chisinau Farit Muhametshin.

So far the post was held by colonel in reserve Yevgheny Vereshcheaga, former employee of the Federal Security Service of Russia. This, alongside four Russian diplomats, was declared persona non-grata at the end of this May.

The next meeting of the Joint Control Commission will take place on September 21.
