New children’s rights monitoring mechanism to be used in Moldova
The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family is working out a new mechanism for assessing the situation as regards the observance of children’s rights in concert with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Health, Corneliu Tarus, division head at the Ministry of Labor, said during a press club meeting, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Everyone realizes the importance of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, but nobody in Moldova contributes to its implementation, especially in rural areas. Considerable human resources are needed in communities,” Corneliu Tarus said.
Mariana Ianakevich, the president of the Alliance of Active NGOs in Social Protection of Child and Family, said the state should pay greater attention to the children’s rights protection system, which is now being reformed.
“This system should envision what the communities need, how many people should protect the children and how. The state must implement appropriate measures and finance this system,” Mariana Ianakevich said.
