The Chisinau City Court judge who is accused of influence peddling will be investigated in one more case that was started by order of the persecutor general, also over influence peddling, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the judge, saying that she has influence on prosecutors, asked US$ 1,000 from a firm manager for helping him obtain a favorable decision in a case.
The judge is investigated outside custody after the Ciocana branch of the Chisinau City Court and also the Chisinau City Appeals Court rejected the prosecutors’ request to remand the judge in custody.
The judge was arrested on influence peddling charges two weeks ago. She is suspected of asking US$16,000 from the manager of a company for helping this obtain a favorable court decision in a civil lawsuit. The judge presumably received US$11,000 of the initial sum.
Last week, at the request of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, the Superior Council of Magistracy decide to suspend judge Maria Tertea, of the Ciocana branch of the Chisinau City Court, from post until the court decision in this case remains final.
