A currency exchange facility in Giurgiulesti village of Cahul district was robbed by two individuals. According to the press service of the General Police Inspectorate, a criminal case was started over the burglary.

Contacted by IPN, an employee of the currency exchange facility said about 30,000 lei was stolen at about 3pm on February 14. The cashier was threatened and hit with a metallic object by the offenders. She went to a doctor to have her bodily injuries recorded.

The currency exchange facility has surveillance cameras. These show two apparently young men with balaclavas entering the facility. The burglary was committed in 8 seconds.

The same currency exchange facility was also robbed in October 2016. Approximately €8,000 was stolen then.

The burglars face up to ten years in jail.
