The first consignment of COVID-19 vaccines delivered through the COVAX Facility are to arrive in Moldova in the evening of March 4. The 14,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines are provided to Moldova free of charge, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection said the Republic of Moldova is among the countries that receive COVID-19 vaccines of the first doses shipped by COVAX.
The event to receive the vaccines will take place at the Chisinau International Airport. The plane will land at 8:50pm. The event will involve President Maia Sandu, members of the diplomatic corps, the country representatives of the WHO, UNICEF, UN and the administration of the Ministry of Health.
Gavi is co-leading COVAX, the vaccines pillar of the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator. This involves coordinating the COVAX Facility, a global risk-sharing mechanism for pooled procurement and equitable distribution of eventual COVID-19 vaccines.
