The Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child has a new structural unit called the Division of Social Protection Policies for the Disabled, Info-Prim Neo reports. The division will focus mainly on the formulation and implementation of the legal framework aimed at reforming the system for determining the disability and work capacity, learning from the relevant experience of other countries. It is also planned to create a Social Inspectorate under the mentioned Ministry given the necessity of assessing and monitoring the implementation of the Law on Social Assistance (article 18), which says how the volume of assistance should be fixed. Minister Galina Balmos said that the given steps derive from the European Integration Plan for 2008. In this connection, she said that an international conference of the disabled is set to take place in Chisinau on December 3. The conference will center on the reformation of the social protection system for the disabled.
