The Government consented to the appointment of the new heads of diplomatic missions who were recently approved by the Parliament’s commission on foreign affairs and European integration.
Ambassador Sergiu Odainic will represent the Republic of Moldova in Canada, IPN reports. Sergiu Odainic is a career diplomat with an experience of almost 20 years at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. Currently, he holds the post of acting secretary general. Earlier, he worked at Moldova’s embassies in the U.S. and the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration has said.
Ambassador Liliana Guțan will promote Moldova’s interests in Sweden. A career diplomat with 15 years’ experience, Liliana Guțan now heads the UN and Specialized Agencies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Earlier, she worked at Moldova’s embassies in the U.S. and Greece.
Ambassador Emil Druc will be recalled from Canada for serving as ambassador to Lithuania. Earlier, he headed Moldova’s embassies in France and Sweden.
Ambassador Alexandr Roitman will strengthen the bilateral dialogue with Israel. Alexandr Roitman has almost ten years’ experience of work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. He now serves as charge d’affaires ad interim at the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Israel. Earlier, he worked as Moldova’s diplomatic mission in Russia.
Ambassador Iulian Grigoriță will represent Moldova in Qatar. Iulian Grigoriță has 24 years’ experience in diplomacy and international relations. Currently, he heads the Western, Central and Southeastern Europe Unit. Earlier, he worked at Moldova’s embassies in Brussels and Germany and as presidential adviser on foreign policy and European integration.
The ambassadors are named by presidential decree after they are accepted by the Government and the Parliament’s commission on foreign affairs and European integration.
