New airspace surveillance system to be purchased for National Army

The Republic of Moldova will buy a new airspace surveillance system. The contract was signed by the Director General of the Estonian Implementing Agency Magnus-Valdemar Saar and the Deputy Chief of General Staff of the National Army, Brigadier General Sergiu Cirimpei. The acquisition is made with the financial support of the European Union, through the European Peace Facility (EPF), IPN reports.

Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatyi expressed gratitude to the EU partners that contribute through constant assistance to the achievement of the national objective of strengthening defense capabilities, noting that such projects will continue for the benefit of Moldova’s citizens.

State secretary of the Ministry of Defense Sergiu Plop had a meeting with the team of the Estonian Implementing Agency, which is responsible for procurement and project implementation. The officials discussed the assistance provided by the European Union through the EPF in various areas, such as mobility, logistics, communications, and also airspace surveillance.
