The over 13 billion lei stolen from the national banking system cannot be recovered, even if the representatives of the government assure this is possible, and the debt will have to be repaid by the people, ex-minister of finance Veaceslav Negruta and Socialist MP Vasile Bolea stated in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel.
Veaceslav Negruta said the investigation has lasted for too long and with the passing of time the chances of recovering the money diminish. “Some try to console the people and themselves by saying that the process of recovering the money started. The sum is very larger and represents over 25 billion lei. It is a heavy burden for the people. Most probably, the range of services provided by the state institutions will be reduced. The state could yet borrow money to cope with the situation,” he stated.
Basile Bolea also considers the stolen billions cannot be recovered. He forecast two methods by which the people will return the money. “The taxes will be increased and the state investments in the economy will be substantially reduced. The costs for the social sphere will also be decreased,” he stated.
In a call-in, ex-Premier Ion Sturza accused Parliament of cowardice. “Candu promised that they will work throughout summer. It is September now. The seven laws could have been debated until now. The assumption of responsibility by the Government for these laws is an illegality. It is about the cowardice of the MPs, who avoided assuming responsibility and shifted it onto a Government that is not aware of the developments,” he said.
