Negotiators of PDM and PLDM unwilling to give details about talks

A new round of negotiations on the formation of a new Government was held on Saturday. This time it involved only representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and the Democratic Party (PDM). But the negotiators refused to provide details, saying they do not want to give reasons for speculation until a deal is not struck, IPN reports.

The PDM’s negotiator Valeriu Lazar said that in order to have the full design of the future Government, they also discussed parliamentary aspects. “I hope there will be clarity and definite results tomorrow. There is dialogue and we move on constructively. We agreed not to give reasons for speculation. When we reach a final agreement, we will give details. Negotiations are possible tomorrow too. We haven’t yet agreed,” said the Democrat.

The negotiator on behalf of the PLDM Liliana Palihovici said that a part of the issues were discussed fully, but there appeared other subjects. She voiced hope that the process will advance at an accelerated pace and that the negotiation partners are sincere as to the creation of the new Government.

After the May 24 discussions, the negotiations were more open. The Democrats said the Lib-Dems want to control the National Anticorruption Center. The PLDM’s negotiators denied this, saying they discussed only the sharing of responsibilities in the future Cabinet.

The negotiations on the formation of a parliamentary majority started this week and are to close by May 30, when the Liberal-Democratic Prime Minister designate Iurie Leanca must present his government program and the nominal composition of the Cabinet for which he will ask a vote of confidence from Parliament.
