The Government decided to initiate negotiations to supplement the agreement with Italy on the reciprocal regulation of international road passenger and freight transportation that was signed in Rome on September 19, 1997. Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Vasile Botnari explained that the supplement will oblige the carriers to respect not only the currency and fiscal norms of the state where the passengers or freight are transported to, but also the customs norms, IPN reports.

The proposal was put forward by the Italian side. According to Vasile Botnari, the supplement will stimulate the Moldovan-Italian cooperation in road transport and will facilitate the Moldovan carriers’ access to European road transportation markets.
