Negotiations on rehabilitation of national roads with China resumed

The Government resumed the negotiations on the rehabilitation of the national roads with the Chinese partners. The Government’s secretary general Victor Bodiu had a meeting with representatives of the company Sinohydro, which was chosen by the executive of the People’s Republic of China to rehabilitate road sectors in Moldova, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Government, the officials discussed the financing conditions and agreed to prepare a lending agreement between the Governments of Moldova and China for signing. The agreement has been discussed for a period, while the negotiations were resumed recently. The relevant documents, including the terms and costs, are to be updated and agreed by the sides.

The money will be used to rehabilitate the Hancesti-Cimislia road and a part of the highway bypassing Chisinau. There will be repaired about 40 km of road.

Over 130 km of national roads are now being reconstructed in Moldova with support from foreign partners. In 2014, there will be launched projects to rehabilitate another 330 km of road, in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank.

Sinohydro works on the European market and is implementing large-scale projects in Serbia, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Bulgaria.
