The negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) - the intergovernmental organization of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland – have advanced dynamically and are close to completion, said President Maia Sandu. In a discussion with the President of Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis, the Moldovan official said that this agreement will contribute to extending commercial exchanges with the EFTA states, IPN reports, quoting the presidential press service.
While heading for Geneva, where she took part in the Effective Development Cooperation Summit, Maia Sandu had a discussion with her Swiss counterpart Ignazio Cassis.
The interlocutors spoke about bilateral cooperation, the difficult situation in the region, the multiple crises experienced by the Republic of Moldova and the actions taken by the authorities to reduce the impact of these crises on the population.
“I thanked for the assistance offered by Switzerland in a number of areas, including for projects in such fields as health, water supply and sewerage, local community development, environmental protection, development of technical and professional education, diaspora and culture,” said Maia Sandu.
