Negotiations on coalition formation go on

The negotiations on the formation of a new parliamentary coalition continue today, July 20. The new round of talks starts at 12 noon and a meeting will be then held at 7pm. The announcement was made by the deputy chairman of the Liberal Party (PL) Dorin Chirtoaca after the July 20 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, IPN reports.

Dorin Chirtoaca noted that intense work is now done on the government program and the political agreement on the formation of the coalition. In the previous negotiations, the members of the press were told one thing, but at the talks there were discussed actually other things and it happened because there wasn’t adopted the rule that they use now. “Things at the talks are now not ideal or perfect, but there is a difference compared with what was there earlier. We never accepted such methods for forming the state bodies as ‘I give you and you give me’,” he said.

The deputy chairman of the PL also said that they are now discussing the criteria and formula for distributing responsibilities and portfolios. “I suggested this formula “one, one, one” last December. According to this formula, the three parties – the Liberal Democratic Party, the Democratic Party and the Liberal Party - have the right to choose one portfolio. The PLDM has the largest number of seats of MP and will thus choose the portfolio the first and so on,” stated Dorin Chirtoaca.

Both of the meetings will take place in the Parliament Building.
