Nearly 70,000 applicants were deemed ineligible for energy compensation for November. However, they may qualify for December, following tariff increases and adjustments to compensation amounts. This announcement was made by Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Alexei Buzu, during a press conference, IPN reports.
Alexei Buzu stated that just over 634,000 households would receive compensation for November, representing approximately 90% of the 703,000 applicants. Non-eligible individuals are encouraged to check updated information in their personal accounts on the platform compensatii.gov.md, particularly those who use natural gas for heating, to determine the compensation amount for December.
The minister clarified that households owning assets, properties, or shares with a cadastral value exceeding 2.5 million lei are not eligible for compensation. Approximately 1,520 such cases were registered in the system.
Additionally, individuals who received dividends exceeding 300,000 lei in the previous year do not qualify. Another eligibility criterion is historical consumption: households with monthly gas consumption of 350 cubic meters or more last winter are excluded.
Alexei Buzu also noted that some applicants declared zero income this year. However, public sources identified incomes, and the automated system included them in the calculations. Moreover, if a person is fit for work but declares no income, the system imputes an income equivalent to the minimum wage.
"There are approximately 59,500 applicants whose energy expenses account for less than 20% of their monthly family budget available for energy payments. Additionally, around 1,500 applicants have monthly incomes ranging between 10,500 and 15,500 lei. These households will not receive compensation for November but may qualify in December", explained Alexei Buzu.
The minister urged citizens dissatisfied with the system's assessment to contact the hotline 080005000. "If, following a reevaluation, we identify errors in the system, we will retroactively provide the corrected compensation, even if the issue is resolved in December or January", added the minister.
