Nearly 650,000 young trees will be planted on the occasion of the National Greening Day themed “A Tree for Our Eternity” on April 4; the event will involve both central and local authorities, Info-Prim Neo reports. The saplings were bought with resources from the National Ecologic Fund, Deputy Ecology Minister Ion Apostol told a news conference on Friday. According to a governmental action plan, the measure aims to increase the wooded areas in the country by some 800 hectares. Trees will also be planted along roadways. At the same time, the local authorities will conduct beautification activities destined for springs and rivers. The disposal sites will also be enhanced. The saplings will be provided by the Forestry Agency Moldsilva. The costs involved amount to 4.5 million lei.
