Nearly 5 kilograms of unmarked gold and silver have been seized from 5 specialized shops, having a market value estimated at 1.5 billion lei, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Center for Fighting Economic Crimes and Corruption (CCCEC), none of the economic entities whose jewels have been seized was able to present documents to confirm their legal origin. Anti-corruption officers noticed the jewels had suspect markings and discovered a tool for sealing labels on precious metal articles. CCCEC informs that criminal proceedings were started on charges of smuggling and traffic of precious metal articles. The financial activity of these enterprises will be under scrutiny.
