The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) will carry out a series of activities under the theme “Give Sense to Money” on the occasion of Global Money Week between March 22 and 26. These are intended for pupils, students, the general public and the business community, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Bank.
“The citizens’ interest in financial education is constantly growing and responds to the needs of increasingly active involvement of the population of different ages and occupations in activities that contribute to financial inclusion. This event, which has been promoted at national level by the National Bank for several years, involves the authorities, institutions and associations engaged in different activities. The new reality we live in alongside the entire global community reorients us towards an online event, but the interaction between the participants will be active and offers everyone the opportunity to participate,” said NBM Governor Octavian Armașu.
A campaign to inform and raise the people’s awareness through the agency of multimedia products, such as videographics, videoguides and podcasts, will be carried out next week. There will be covered such topics as the safe use of the payment card, how to start an online business, what to pay attention to when intending to raise a loan, from savings to investments, why monetary policy decisions are made etc.
There will be launched the financial education platform “Moldova Banking Hub” that is intended for pupils, students and teachers who will have the opportunity to discuss various financial and banking topics with central bank experts.
Activities will be also organized in partnership with the Economic Press Club, such as training courses for students of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences, and with the Independent Think Tank “Expert-Grup”, namely training workshops for the general public, which will end with an interactive quiz and the winners will be awarded certificates of participation.
Also, the NBM will stage virtual visits to the institution’s museum and a virtual exhibition of coins of the National Museum of History of Moldova.
In order to promote financial education in the most remote corners of the country, the NBM and “Expert-Grup” have trained several pupils and students, who will conduct online lessons for peers in their hometowns, on the topic “Give Sense to Money”. Candidates for the title of financial literacy ambassador were selected in a public competition held last year.
Those who want to take part in the events can register by filling out the form or by making a request through the email educatia.financiara@bnm.md.
The NBM joins in the Global Money Week every year. As part of the event, the public from almost 175 countries express their readiness to learn to orient themselves in today’s financial world, which is rapidly developing and plays an increasingly important role in the daily life.
