A National Bank of Moldova (NBM) division head and one of the deputy heads of the National Administration of Penitentiaries (NAP) were again placed under arrest after the Chisinau Appeals Court quashed the decisions of the Ciocana branch of the Chisinau City Court, ordering to remand the two in custody, IPN reports.
The Prosecutor General’s Office said the NBM division head, who held the post of special administrator of Banca de Economii, was placed under arrest until May 10. He is accused of abuse of power in the bank fraud case, concerning the management of the bank guarantees provided by the NBM to Banca de Economii, Unibank and Banca Sociala.
In the case of the NAP deputy head, the Appeals Court replaced the house arrest ordered by the Ciocana branch of the Chisinau City Court with remand detention until May 11.
Also, the investigation into another case in which the NAP deputy head is accused of illegal keeping of munitions and negligent keeping of firearms and munitions was completed and the case that was started following the searches carried out at his home was sent to court.
