Natural entities to be allowed to finance Moldovan NGOs

The natural entities will be allowed to finance the work of Moldovan non-governmental organizations. They will be able to allocate the NGOs 2 % of their income taxes. The Parliament is considering such a draft law, Info-Prim Neo reports. The president of the Parliament Marian Lupu recognized Wednesday at a meeting with NGOs from the North of Moldova that they had not found the best way to implement the laws related to NGOs' work. “We but pretend to work with these institutions, and the NGO representatives accept this game,” Marian Lupu said, saying such a situation cannot be tolerated any more. According to an NGO leader, Ilia Trombitki, over half of the environment-related drafts developed by NGOs reaching to be discussed within the Parliament convey the interest of theirs or of the institutions carrying out the project. Out of 274 NGOs registered in Balti town, only 10-15 are actually active, says the mayor, Vasile Panciuc. A series of NGO leaders have complained they pay three times more for utilities than the natural entities, only because they are considered legal entities, although they do not make profits as companies do. Marian Lupu suggested them to cooperate with local authorities in this regard.
