NATO Summit kicks off with silence for dead military in Alliance missions

The NATO Summit has started its works this morning, April 3, at about 09.00, after a silence moment for the military who died in the Alliance’s missions, Info-Prim Neo’s correspondent accredited at the Summit reports from Bucharest. NATO’s secretary general, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer has thanked the military for their contribution in insuring the freedom and democracy. We’ll see what role NATO plays in fighting cyber-attacks and insuring security. NATO is an indispensable engine for cooperation, the decisions to be taken will strengthen NATO’s role, said the secretary general. Romanian President Traian Basescu has uttered his speech in Romanian. He has reminded of the new security challenges on making progress in the 21st century and of the need to promote common values and change. Basescu has stated he counts on an alliance managing to find solutions in everybody’s interest, regardless of initial divergences and hopes this summit will be a corner-stone in implementing the ambitious initiatives launched by partners. After Basescu’s speech, the close-door consulting session started.
