The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) respects the status of neutrality of Moldova. It has excellent relations with many neutral states and there are no contradictions between these partnerships and the neutrality, the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Hugh Bayley said in a meeting with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca in Chisinau, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.
The official noted that NATO supports the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova and the efforts made by Chisinau to peacefully resolve the Transnistrian conflict. Hugh Bayley welcomed the path to European integration and modernization and the reforms done in various areas in this respect.
Iurie Leanca said that Moldova pursues the modernization goal in a move to ensure living conditions at European standards. “We need not only financial support. We also need expertise in doing reforms in justice, in fighting corruption, in modernizing the public institutions and developing economy and trade so as to be able to create more workplaces,” he stated.
