The Government of the Republic of Moldova signed, on May 12, in Brussels a series of juridical agreements with NATO International Secretariat and NATO Maintenance and Supply Organization (NAMSO), documents that regard the implementation of the NATO/OSCE project. One of the documents stipulates the liquidation of pesticides and dangerous chemical products in the Republic of Moldova. The agreement was signed by the NATO General Secretary, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer and the Ministry of Defense, Valeriu Plesca. According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFAEI), NATO Secretary General emphasized the significance the Alliance attributes to the project and to the multilateral participation in the implementation of the project requires due to its complicated nature and multiple tasks. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer remarked that the relations between Moldova and NATO will have a supplementary impulse when the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPP) will be approved by the Republic of Moldova and the North-Atlantic Council. Defense minister Valeriu Plesca mentioned about the importance for Moldova of the signed documents and their further implementation that will eliminate an impending ecologic danger and will contribute overcoming some consequences of the military reforms and will consolidate the opinion of NATO about Moldova as a reliable partner. The project is implemented within the NATO Special Trust Fund, including as co-pilot countries Belgium and Romania. Besides these countries, also other countries offered their contribution. For example: Great Britain, Finland, Ireland, Latvia, Luxembourg, Norway, Holland, Czech Republic, Sweden and Turkey.
