NATO is following with concern the political crisis in the Republic of Moldova and calls on all political forces in the country to exercise calm and restraint, IPN reports.

A statement by the NATO Spokesperson on the situation in the Republic of Moldova says the political forces should resolve their differences through dialogue, in full respect of the rule of law. “The Republic of Moldova’s democratically elected leaders need to work together to overcome this crisis,” runs the statement.

“We reaffirm NATO’s continuing support to the Republic of Moldova in the reform of its defense and security institutions. NATO and the Republic of Moldova have been close partners for more than 25 years. We remain committed to the Republic of Moldova’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
