NATO deputy secretary general to visit Moldova

NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană will be paying an official visit to the Republic of Moldova during September 13-15. While in Chisinau, the official will have meetings with President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, IPN reports.

“The meetings will center on the latest developments related to regional security and the cooperation priorities on the Republic of Moldova – NATO line, possibilities of obtaining the expertise and assistance of the North Atlantic Alliance for the efforts to democratize and modernize our country, in particular in developing the security, defense capabilities and in fighting disinformation and strengthening our country’s resilience, in accordance with the requirements of the current security environment,” the Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă told a news conference.

He noted that the Moldovan authorities approve of the contribution made by the North Atlantic partners to the efforts to modernize and strengthen the defense sector of the Republic of Moldova.

On the occasion of the visit, Prime Minister Dorin Recean and NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană will give a joint news conference in the Government Building on Thursday.
