National youth team rank fifth at CIS World Cup
The national youth squad of Moldova finished fifth in the 2013 Cup of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Baltic Countries. In the last match on January 27, Moldova beat Kazakhstan 1-0 owing to the goal scored by halfback Alexei Solomin at the start of the second half, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Thus, Moldova took revenge on Kazakhstan after loosing to them in the penalty shootout in the match for the seventh place last year.
The CIS Cup was won by Russia, which defeated Ukraine in the final 4-2. Moldovan footballer Igor Lambarschi played for Russia throughout this game.
Alexandru Kurteyan’s pupils will play the next match against Romania, at home, on February 6.
The friendly will take place at the sports club Sheriff in Tiraspol, starting at 6pm.
