The National Wine Day will be again held in the Great National Assembly Square. The event will take place on October 5-6 and will be organized according to a new conception. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the emphasis this year is put on the healthy and moderate consumption of wine, IPN reports.
The 12th National Wine Day is themed “Respect for tradition, courage in innovations”. The Great National Assembly Square will be divided into three areas: “Codru” for the producers from central Moldova; “Valul lui Traian” for the producers from southern Moldova, and “Stefan Voda” for the producers from the southeastern districts. There will be also an area dedicated to brandies. Every region will present their wines, national costumes, typical handicrafts and food products.
There will be set up a stand for tourists, where the tourist companies will be able to present their offers. The organizers will provide buses for those who will want to visit sights. In order to promote traditions, the visitors will be encouraged to wear at least one Moldovan national element. The program also includes exhibitions of handicrafts, street paintings and photographs, masterclasses and wine tasting events.
The holiday starts at 09.00 with the program of tourist visits. A concert will start in the central square of Chisinau at 10.00. The official opening of the holiday will take place at 11am. It will be followed by a folk music recital by the orchestra of the Advahov Brothers and Zinaida Julea. At 12.40, the exhibition stands will be visited by guests of honor, while at 14.00 there will be handed over the Golden Barrel price. A folk and pop music concert will be held from 17.00 until 20.00.
The next day the holiday will begin with another program of tourist visits. Between 11.00 and 18.00, there will be held interactive contests, workshops and folk music recitals. A performance of music will start at 18.00, while at 20.00 the holiday will be closed officially.
The National Wine Day holiday was instituted in 1990.
