National Volunteer Week starts with program for children

The National Volunteer Coalition of Moldova will hold awareness-raising activities within the National Volunteer Week in Chisinau and other settlements of the country with the aim of supporting the socially disfavored persons and drawing attention to the problems faced by the Moldovans. The activities were launched on May 25, IPN reports.

For the first day, there were selected 30 children from socially deprived families from three villages of Hancesti district. During the day, the children will watch a performance and will visit museums in Chisinau. A program of original ideals will take place in the evening. It will involve 16 young people from Moldova and the European Union. “They will deliver an awareness-heightening message and will speak about the social needs,” said the deputy head of the National Youth Council of Moldova Doru Curosu.

The Ideal Football Cup, which is the only volunteer sports event, will be staged on May 26. It will involve 14 teams. During the week, there will be held training seminars and awareness-raising activities for the population. On May 29, two NGOs will invite mothers with children, elderly people and persons with disabilities to crosswalks in Chisinau. They will cross the street continuously so as to sensitize drivers and the public authorities to pedestrians’ safety.

Training seminars and volunteer activities will be organized in other regions as well.  In Falesti and Ialoveni, there will be staged child training activities and activities to support the elderly persons and socially disadvantaged families.

The seventh National Volunteer Week will take place between May 24 and June 2 under the slogan “Join the volunteers”.
