The national Under 21 football team of Moldova has qualified for the final of the CIS Cup, for the first time. The ‘tricolors’ scored two victories and can no longer be outrun in the group rankings by the national squads of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kirgizstan, IPN reports.
The team trained by Danut Oprea won against Kazakhstan 1-0 and against Kirgizstan 2-0. On January 21, Moldova plays against Belarus. In the final, Moldova will meet Russia or Estonia.
Earlier, the CIS Cup involved the champions of the former states of the Soviet Union. The competition was two times won by Sheriff Tiraspol.
