National U-21 team beats San Marino

The national Under-21 team of Moldova began the qualifying competition of the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship with a victory. Moldova defeated San Marino 2-0, IPN reports.

Both of the goals were scored by striker Vitalie Damascan, who made his debut for the national U-21 team. He is 18 and plays for Sheriff Tiraspol. Damascan recently scored both in the final of Moldova’s Cup and in the “golden match”.

In the encounter with San Marino, Moldova U-21 manager Danut Oprea used the following players: Emil Timbur, Andrei Makritski, Valerii Makritski, Denis Marandici, Cristin Jalba, Danu Bojii (Yevgheny Oancea 46th minute), Alexandru Bejan, Alexandru Boiciuc (Nicolae Matei 61st), Ion Cararus, Maxim Cojocaru (Andrei Trifan 76th), and Vitalie Damascan.
